Spring term 2025:
In English, we have used the text “Cogheart” by Pater Bunzl to write a trip advisor review, character description and a narrative as our final outcome. The story has the children thoroughly hooked and they have been making specific word choice to create impact on the reader. The book is part of a four book series and it would be lovely to see some children borrow the series from the library to read at home.
In maths, we have been revising topics we need more practise on for our mock SATs.
There are additional sessions taking place during worship time for those children who need to catch up a little bit and additional sessions in the afternoon in preparation for SATs.
In science, we have learned about evolution and inheritance. We have learned about Darwin’s theory of evolution and we understand that humans have offspring that may not possess exactly the same traits as them.
We have worked on refuting evidence presented by scientists.
We have moved on to animals and their habitats in spring 2.
Our topic this term is “Earning a living”. We have studied the local area and its economy and linked it to global trade.
In Computing this half term, we have studied Online-Safety and we have learned about staying safe online. The children are very knowledgeable and are able to provide tips to stay safe whilst doing something they enjoy but need to remain safe whilst doing it.
Our overarching theme this half term is Compassion and love. We have had some excellent class discussions on what it means to be compassionate and show love to ourselves and others. Almost all the children in our class have had the opportunity to present our Tuesday worship sessions and everyone is very keen to be part of our worship.
Spring term 2 is forgiveness and love.
The economy has been our topic in this subject. And the impact of the media, both very important topics for our children to learn about for use in the future.
We have also been working on ways to maintain a healthy mind.
We have completed some more “before we leave, we will achieve” activities on our whole school culture plan as we are going on a local geography field trip week beginning 24th of March.
